In this book we will be sharing how we learned to acknowledge, accept, and appreciate our mother's experience and journey despite our troubled relationship.
Acknowledgment is such a difficult but necessary ingredient on the Journey to Forgiveness. Even when openly addressing the issue seems downright disrespectful, it’s the best thing you will ever do for the relationship you have or ever hope to have with your mom.
But acknowledgment is only the first step.
In Unchain Me Mama: Lessons Learned On My Journey to Forgiveness we will share how we not only acknowledge our difficult experiences with our mom, we will disclose how we moved on to accept and then finally appreciate her and the lessons the experience has taught us about our mothers and ourselves.

My name is Audra R. Upchurch. I, too, had a difficult relationship with my mother who suffers with mental illness! By the age of 15 I was homeless, by 17 I was pregnant, and soon after my son was taken away. My inability to cope with the emotions behind losing custody of my son lead to a breakdown in how I functioned in all my relationships.
So, I know firsthand how challenging it can be to live through tough experiences that affect how you relate to the world and everyone in it. It’s not easy sharing your story and showing the world your flaws when you've invested so much time separating yourself from your past.
However, over time I’ve realized how powerful my story is in helping others who are going through the same challenges. I’ve learned my voice can give others the strength they need to face their demons and build a healthy, fulfilling, and thriving life.
